The following is a quick run-down of the technology characteristics that allow the Enovia GeoSense™ platform to provide superior performance all the time:

  • Web Based: GeoSense™ is deployed as a web service providing user and administrator access via a web browser. The web interface is AJAX empowered, taking advantage of the new “Web 2.0” design and functionality innovations to make the user experience as useful as possible.
  • Highly Stable:  GeoSense™ is designed in a way that it all of all its software and hardware components are fully redundant. This design ensures that the service will witness Zero-Downtime with the proper software and hardware setup.
  • Highly Reliable: GeoSense™ stresses data integrity by applying mechanisms to ensure that the user information is Never Lost. We achieve this feat by making it a high-priority design goal, making sure each individual component along the data path includes proper mechanisms for crash recovery.
  • Multi-Lingual: The whole platform is designed with localization to different languages in mind. All components used have native support for different character sets, including right-to-left scripts such as Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, or Hebrew.  Localization is supported by all the layers of the platform, from the back-end databases and servers, to the front-end user interface, maps, and generated reports.
  • Scalable: GeoSense™ can easily handle higher load by adding parallel software and hardware modules. These modules boast an efficient software design to work in a parallel environment, and are able to balance tasks in order to efficiently handle higher user load in a robust and stable manner.
  • Modular: The GeoSense™ platform features a modular design where the customer may only deploy the components they require for their solution.  Additional functional modules may then be added when needed.
  • Flexible: Enovia has taken its utmost care to ensure that the data collected and processed by the GeoSense™ platform is easily accessible by other systems in an organization. For this reason, several mechanisms are employed to ensure smooth system integration. These mechanisms include: XML interfaces, generic database connections, and data export facilities.
  • Hardware Independent: Any tracking hardware may be added to the system with minimal modifications. All is required is writing the proper interface to accommodate the hardware’s protocol.
  • Communication Media Independent: The platform accepts data via GPRS, SMS, Inmarsat, Thuraya, Iridium, TETRA, VHF, and other communication media.
  • Application Infrastructure Independent: The platform has been tested on different Java Enterprise infrastructures (WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, Tomcat, JBoss). If an enterprise has an existing Java Enterprise deployment. The GeoSense platform can make use of the same infrastructure to run. In addition, being Java-based, GeoSense™ may be deployed on either Linux or MS Windows servers.
  • Database Independent: GeoSense™ supports Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL as the underlying database.
  • Wide support of various map formats: GeoSense™ supports the following map formats: ESRI Shapefiles, MapInfo, Oracle Spatial, PostGIS, and Raster GeoTIFF.
